Our story
ABOUT RAUCH
In 1984, after serving as Talbot County's youngest-ever Public Works Director, Bob Rauch founded a firm built on a conviction: the right technology in the right hands could deliver engineering that competes with anyone, anywhere.
While most firms were still drafting by hand, RAUCH invested in PC-based CAD from day one, becoming one of the largest PC CAD operations in the country. That early bet on technology set the course for everything that followed: a firm that consistently punches above its weight by pairing deep expertise with the best available tools.
Today, under Casey Rauch, P.E., RAUCH inc. is a full-service A/E firm with 54 professionals delivering engineering, architecture, survey, environmental services, GIS and drone operations, BIM coordination, construction management, grant services, and government relations, all integrated on one platform.
To date we have engineered over 2 million square feet of industrial and commercial property, designed over 10,000 residential lots, surveyed over 200,000 acres, and secured over $56 million in grant and loan funding for clients across Maryland, the nation, and internationally.

How we work
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Technology as a Force Multiplier
From PC CAD in 1984 to BIM and drone analytics today, we have always invested in technology that lets our team deliver at the level of much larger firms: faster, with fewer errors, and at a better value.
Built to Last
Our licensed professionals pair proven engineering science with the latest digital tools. The result is design that performs for generations, modeled, verified, and coordinated before we break ground.
Local Knowledge, National Reach
We know the soils, the tidal systems, and the regulatory landscape of the Eastern Shore. And our cloud-based workflows let us bring that same level of precision to clients anywhere.
One Firm, One Platform
When your architect, engineer, surveyor, and environmental scientist work in the same digital environment, coordination happens in real time, not through months of file exchanges between separate firms.
Our approach
PROJECT DELIVERY
Quality Assurance
Our Quality Control measures ensure that client projects are completed on time and on-budget. Our in-house review team carefully reviews output to validate accuracy and avoid potential change orders that can become costly.
Value Engineering
A value engineering approach to all projects ensures final design is consistent with both budget and project objectives. The re-use of existing infrastructure and cost-effective design alternatives are consistently sought, allowing for the establishment of a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP).
Cost Control
Use of a Construction or Resident Project Manager on-site mitigates issues that might cause delays. We also offer bidding services, onsite inspections, and funding & payment review including RFI, change order, and pay application review.

TIMELINE
Robert D. Rauch, P.E. establishes the firm on Harrison Street in downtown Easton, after serving as Talbot County's youngest-ever Public Works Director. During his tenure as Director of Public Works, he established county roads and building standards, oversaw the construction of three wastewater treatment plants, and facilitated two master water and sewer plan updates. From day one, the firm invests in PC-based CAD technology, a bold move when most engineers still drafted by hand.
The firm becomes one of the largest PC CAD users in the country, proving that technology allows a focused team to deliver work that rivals firms many times its size.
