Coastal Resilience
St. Michaels, Maryland
Tourism and commercial fishing remain two of St. Michaels' primary economic drivers. Flooding and future sea level rise concerns led to an infrastructure study identifying viable, cost-efficient strategies to increase the town's resiliency. Consideration was given to both rainfall and tidal induced flooding, with evaluation of tide gates versus culverts, nature-based solutions, and reconstruction of low-lying streets.
What we delivered
Stormwater modeling for Mill Street Culvert
Civil Engineering Feasibility Study for raising roads to 5 feet over MSL
Surveying and pre-design services for low-lying street reconstruction
Evaluation of tide gates versus culverts
Nature-based flood mitigation solutions
