Resiliency Planning
A resiliency plan is only useful if it gets built. RAUCH combines hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, survey, environmental permitting, and civil design with grant writing, so each plan arrives with realistic costs, clear priorities, and a path to funding.
Our Stormwater Management Master Plan for the Town of Hebron, funded by Maryland DNR, is used as a case study in DNR's 2023 Community Guide to Assessing Non-Tidal Flood Impacts, and we helped the Town secure a $1.659 million MDE Comprehensive Flood Management Grant to implement it. For the Town of St. Michaels and the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, we evaluated sea level rise strategies ranging from tide gates and living shorelines to raising low-lying streets.
Assessment and Planning
Analysis that tells a community where it floods, why, what it will cost to fix, and what to do first.
- Flood vulnerability and sea level rise assessments
- Stormwater and flood management master plans
- Hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling, including state model results
- Tidal and rainfall flood impact assessments
- Alternatives analysis and cost-benefit comparison
- Prioritized capital improvement recommendations
Nature-Based and Engineered Solutions
We design the full range of measures, and recommend the ones that fit the site and the budget.
- Living shorelines, breakwaters, and oyster reef substrate
- Tidal wetland creation
- Tide gates, culverts, and outfall improvements
- Road elevation and low-lying street reconstruction
- Green infrastructure and Low Impact Development retrofits
Funding and Implementation
Plans arrive with a funding strategy, and our team stays through permitting and construction.
- Maryland DNR and MDE grant applications
- Grant administration and reporting
- Permitting with USACE, MDE, and Maryland DNR
- Design, bidding, and construction management
