Park Planning

Master plans, community engagement, and design for public parks, trails, and waterfronts, from concept through construction documents.

RAUCH plans parks the way public clients need them delivered: shaped by community input, designed around wetlands, floodplains, and Critical Area buffers, phased to match available funding, and carried through permitting and construction documents by the same team.

Recent work includes conceptual planning and public workshops for Talbot County's 107-acre Frederick Douglass Park, design of a 197-acre park site the Town of Easton acquired with a $5 million Program Open Space grant, Council-approved plans for the City of Cambridge's Leonards Lane Park, and phased design of San Domingo Creek Park for the Town of St. Michaels.

Planning and Engagement

Plans that a council can adopt and a community supports, built from site analysis, public input, and realistic cost and phasing.

  • Park master plans and conceptual alternatives
  • Community visioning, public outreach, and workshops
  • Site analysis and programming
  • Phasing plans and cost estimates
  • Presentations to councils, commissions, and boards

Design and Permitting

The same team carries the plan through engineering, environmental permitting, and construction documents.

  • Trails, boardwalks, overlooks, and pedestrian bridges
  • Athletic fields, courts, and playgrounds
  • Waterfront access: piers, kayak launches, and boat ramps
  • Wetland creation, pollinator habitat, and reforestation
  • Stormwater management and green infrastructure
  • Critical Area, wetland, and forest conservation permitting
  • Construction documents, specifications, and construction management

Funding

Park projects run on grants. Our grants team prepares and administers applications alongside the design.

  • Program Open Space applications
  • Maryland DNR Waterway Improvement Fund applications
  • Grant administration and reporting
